Rethinking On The Main Contradiction Of The Primary Stage Of Socialism

The completion of Three Socialist Transformation in1956marked the establishment ofChina’s socialist system and the entrance to the primary stage of socialism. At this stage, themain social contradiction is the contradiction between people’s growing material and culturalneeds and the backward social production. From time to time, the core leadership of theChinese communist party has done deeply research on the social contradiction. MAO Zedongfirmly believed that socialist society also have various contradictions and constructed thesocialist social contradictions system; Deng Xiaoping, from a new perspective, deepened thesocialist social contradictions system, and correctly defined the main contradictions in theprimary stage of socialism; Jiang Zemin and Hu Jintao, in different degrees, contributedgreatly to the theory of the system, enriching the system. It is in the course of constantclearance of the relationship among socialist social basic contradiction, people’s internalcontradiction and the main contradictions of primary stage of socialism, and the process ofdrawing lessons from wrong cognition on the main contradictions that China’s socialist careerkeeps developing.There are different periods of the socialism primary stage: the establishment of thesocialist system period, the20-year socialist tortuous development period, the reform andopening up to four modernizations period, the comprehensive construction well-off societyperiod and the building of a harmonious society period, during the different periods, thesocial main contradictions are different. At present,"people’s growing material and culturalneeds" present new changes in the content of people’s demanding, the main group’sdemanding and the regions’ demanding with the completely changed social production andthe magnificent development of the social productivity, social material production andsocial spiritual production. The ability of social production has gradually strengthened tomeet the people’s ever-increasing reasonable material and cultural needs.Currently, China hasn’t passed the primary stage of socialism yet and it still has largegap from the developed countries. So the nature of the present main social contradictionshave changed that the main job is still to develop the social productivity. However, the maincontradictions also show some new features, especially in the secondary prospect ofcontradictions. As the social accumulated great wealth did not be reasonable distributed topeople’s hands, the gap between rich and poor widened and the common prosperity fails to beachieved, leading to the social members enlarging difference in the self-need achievementboth in content and capability. As to the overall development of China, the differencesbetween the social members’ demanding caused by the gap between rich and poor isinevitable. But if the difference is expanding constantly, especially because some of theunreasonable factors, this will seriously affect the relationship among the social members onthe product information ownership and the distribution of the production.Productivityrelation has adverse effect on productivity: unreasonable production relation will hinder thedevelopment of productivity. The stagnation of productivity will cause the social productiondifficult to rich thus fail to satisfy people’s ever-increasing material and cultural needs. So theexpansion of social member needing difference will aggravate the basic socialist contradictions and main socialist contradictions of primary stage.Therefore, how to have an overall objective understanding of the common prosperity,and how to effectively narrow the gap between rich and poor to narrow social members’growing material and cultural needing differences are the current pressing tasks.
