When it comes to Eastern Europe, the first reaction of people is probably the drastic changes in Eastern Europe occurred in the late1990s. This is a veritable political earthquake in the world, which toppled the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe socialist system. All countries of the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe region began to embark on the road of transition from the Soviet model to the Western model. Eastern Europe countries were so naive as to think that as long as they get rid of the Soviet model which is the culprit of all the pain, and choose the Western model suitable for politics, economy and culture of the Eastern Europe, all problems can be smoothly done or easily solved. In fact, things are not so simple. The transition is in deed of some help to ease the political, economic and social contradictions of Eastern Europe countries, but cannot deny that there are still many problems in the transition process. Facing their respective problems brought by two modes of social development to Eastern Europe, to explore deep-seated and common causes of these problems is particularly important. This paper is divided into fore major sections except preface. The first part analyzes the development situation before the World War II, the reasons for selecting the Soviet model, the negative impact of the Soviet model in Eastern Europe and the resulting crisis and reform. The second part mainly describes the return journey to Europe of Eastern Europe which moves closer to the West from the four aspects of politics, economy, diplomacy and ideology, and analyzes the reasons why Eastern Europe would show special performance to the Western model. The third part discuses the current situation, the problems and the causes of problems of Eastern Europe since the transition. The fourth part is the focus of this paper, all the discuss of the first three parts is to reach the common enlightenment the two kinds of social development model in the Eastern Europe, and to give some positive countermeasures to solve the potential problems on the road of future development in Eastern Europe. |
