An Empirical Study On The Quality Of Life Of Migrant Workers

Migrant Workers, has made many of indelible contributions for the country’s urbanization and economic development, should enjoy the various benefits and protection because of social development. However, due to its own conditions of migrant workers and other objective factors, to bring their quality of life in the city is very low. Therefore, the government, society and individuals need to take steps to improve the quality of life of migrant workers.Accorded with relevant guidance of theory of quality of life, we used Migrant Workers quality of life assessment index system which has been modified, sample measurement and analysis the actual living conditions of Migrant Workers who living in cities of Chengdu, found that Migrant Workers overall level of quality of life in the city is low and each segment of difference between the quality of life in a larger; Personal characteristics factor, Government intervention factors, and Social environmental factors is all impacting the urban quality of life of Migrant Workers. And thus reveal Migrant Workers in their own existence, such as low education level; there the Government level, such as the obstacle of administrative systems, administrative concept and administrative legislation; and the existence of rigidities in the level of public awareness, such as class, is the mainly due to the current low quality of life of Migrant Workers.Based on the above empirical studies, and combined the relative content of Adams theory of social justice, and the theory of social welfare, this paper argues that in order to reflect the fairness of a harmonious society, and relieve the weakness of Migrant Workers which caused by unfair distribution of social resources, necessary for the Government, society and individuals to take collective strategy. In part of the government strategy, the Government should change the systems, concepts and legislation to create the prerequisites for the implementation of solution strategies. Government should in accordance with the principles of layered implementation, implement priority solution policy to the quality of life of Migrant Workers in the skills training, social insurance, health insurance, children’s education and spiritual life, and so on, while the contents of the second-best strategy for solution was the Government should further strengthen the construction of the system of unemployment benefits, legal assistance agencies, low-rent housing, labor time optimization and the minimum income guarantee.
