The Construction Of Guan Yu "Wu Sheng" Political Role

Since nineteen seventies, Guan Yu phenomenon and Guan Yu culture are increasingly concerned by scholars, more and more people have begun to study the phenomenon of the Guan Yu academia, the understanding about Guan Yu phenomenon and Guan Yu culture has deepened, but it mainly concentrates in the legend of Guan Yu, the myth of Guan Yu and the historical research of Guan Yu, the political value of the political role of Guan Yu "Wu Sheng" on the theory is still relatively scarce.Therefore, this paper, based on the perspective of the halo effect, studies the construction and political value of Guan Yu’political role, uses political symbol and political role theory, that can deepen the understanding of the phenomenon of Guan Yu " Wu Sheng ".In the process of Chinese traditional social development, Guan Yu plays a political role and becomes the social hierarchy who strives to shape the political authority; all is related with the Chinese traditional social environment. The exploitative nature of the small peasant economy makes people be exploited and oppressed status, so their social cognition has been limited; isomorphic State-Family bureaucracy and crisis of social environment make the power class try to find people in communication with bureaucratic role and the folk in order to seek political identity and political power legitimacy of existence; the coexistence of servility and struggle in national culture that makes people generally have the hero worship, there are still some form of rebellion against the imperial power struggle at the same time, mainly in the form of literature and art development.Based on the perspective of halo effect, the evolution of Guan Yu political role has experienced three phases:the king, the emperor and the saint. Facing the crisis of social environment, the feudal hierarchy has an effort to maintain their political rules, so they construct the authority political role of Guan Yu "Wu Sheng" and give strong supports in various aspects. Guan Yu Temple increases from the localized initial creation to a nationwide promotion, the letter posthumous title is from the initial "king of Wu’an" up to its peak,26characters. The features of Guan Yu’s political role construction is from the folk spontaneous in the initial role construct, to unfolded partial rational official consciousness in the further role construction, to the stereotypes of official consciousness in the peak role construction. In order to maintain their own rule and the establishment of political legitimacy, the feudal hierarchy continued to increase the construction of Guan Yu political role. The construction of Guan Yu political role provides a common social memory and integrates the ideology. It is more important for the political identification and political legitimacy.
