The mass media industry has been rapid development in the21stcentury. Peopleare wrapped in a flood of information. Nowadays, the mass media is not only accesswhich helps us getting information but has already dominated our daily lives.However, the mass media is not a charitable organization. They disseminateinformation for economic interests. All the information we learned from the massmedia is products after select and process. More worrying, the theme of violent crimealways makes people feel nervous and exciting, and always easy to attract people’sattention. That is the position mass media will never give up. The sex industry is thesame. The relevance between them and violent crime is a research hotspot incriminology.Although the impact of mass media on society is self-evident, we cannot simplyshut down all mess media. Before we blindly condemn the mass media, we must beclear that to what extent and under what circumstances the mass media will affectviolent crime.The thesis divides into six chapters. First chapter introduces the concept of themass media and dissemination, and main theory after the birth of media. Secondchapter elaborate the relationship between mass media and violence. Thecharacteristics of media and in which way it affects the public violent tendency. Thirdchapter dealing with the negative impact of mass media on violent crime, including arousing motive for the crime and learning crime method. Fourth chapter introducesthe positive impact of media on violent crime. Fifth chapter elaborate biased mediacoverage of woman and children. Last chapter proposed the countermeasures resistingmalignant media, including two major parts, control by the government and control ofthe mass media itself.The thesis points out in the end that, in fact, the prevention and control of thenegative impact of mass media is an important part of prevention and control of thewhole violent crime. Although it is not pragmatic an impossible to eliminate allviolent media, we can still devote to reducing and controlling it. This is also preciselythe original intention of this article.
