The ideological and political education is the education activities on humanbeings in accordance with the ideological and moral and political stance, views andculture. Since the founding of the PRC, it has consolidated the socialist system, andactively promoted the vigorous development of the socialist modernization. With thecontinuous deepening of reform and opening up policy, the change of socialenvironment and economic systems and the diversity of people’s thinking, how todraw nutrients from the theory of ideological and political work of the60th years,how to carry forward the valuable tradition of ideological and political education andhow to improve the ideological and political education considering the developmentof socialist market economy are exactly what the thesis focuses on, bearing importanttheoretical and practical significance.First, the concept of ideological and political education and research methods arediscriminated and defined, and theoretical basis of this thesis as well as its main taskis clarified.Then based on the changes of the main tasks faced by the party and the state indifferent periods and variation of economic systems, the ideological and politicaleducation is divided into four phases since the founding of new China, that isdevelopment and setbacks of the ideological and political education (1949-1976), therestoration and development of ideological and political education (1976-1992), theimprovement and strengthening on the journey to the new century (1992-2002),innovation of ideological and political education in the new century and new phase(since2002). On this basis, combined with domestic and international political andeconomic background of each stage, the development of ideological and politicaleducation will be analyzed and summarized systematically covering the educationstatus, tasks, activities, regulations, and means of ideological and political educationsince the founding of the PRC. Specifically, the relationship between the ideologicalwork and the business is explored; tasks as well as the inheritance, development andinnovation of contents and forms at different periods are under the analysis. Through the analysis together with considering the current situation, somerevelations have been drawn from both positive and negative perspectives.Experiences are: positioning the status reasonably and playing its dynamic role,adhering to Marxism to reflect the fundamental position and purpose, laying greatimportance to the construction of organizations so as to provide organizationalsecurity, innovating ways and means based on traditions. The trend of the ideologicaland political education is: the combination of both ‘country oriented’ and ‘peopleoriented’; the combination of dominant and diversity; the combination of inheritanceand innovation and the combination of popularization and specialization. Theserevelations and trend will provide a theoretical basis for the present and futuredevelopment.
