Research On The Cultivation Of The University Students Consciousness Of The Constitution

College students’ consciousness of constitution is a general term for the constitution thought, idea and psychology of our modern university students. Awareness of the constitution includes the supremacy of constitution consciousness, the awareness of people’s sovereignty, civil rights and duty consciousness, democracy and equality consciousness and so on, cultivating students’ consciousness of constitution is key to fostering their awareness of these. College Students’ consciousness of the Constitution is the core of their Legal Consciousness. Fostering students’ awareness of the Constitution is an inevitable requirement of the development of a socialist market economy, is the need to cultivate university students to qualified citizens, and also is needs of juvenile legal education.This report made an investigation and system analysis about the status of College students’ consciousness of constitution, and concludes that their consciousness of constitution is gradually taking shape and developing, but overall for still there are differences with the requirements of the state and the development of the society. It shows lower cognitive level of the Constitution, the good consciousness of the constitutional concept, basic rights and obligations of cognitive bias, the satisfaction from protecting by the basic rights is not high, the situation of exercising fundamental rights is not optimistic, for the evaluation of the constitution implementation is not that optimistic as well, the lack of attention to the modify and improvement of our Constitution. Overall, the level of college students’ awareness of the Constitution is not high. The reasons causing that is diverse, including both students’ own physiology, psychology, values and family environment, academic curriculum and professional division as well as the teaching way and a variety of social factors. Through the analysis of the above problems, this report puts forward solving countermeasure about how to cultivate college students’ awareness of constitution. They will be that through school and social education to strengthen students’ law knowledge, to perfect the related law system, a perfect social and campus law environment, to strengthen the students’ trust on constitution, and improve students’ awareness of the Constitution.
