| The Middle East, an vital region attracts the great attention of American successivegovernments since the Second World War, has always been the hotspot in the world due to itsimportant strategic status and complicated contradictions in the aspects of nation, religion,territory, etc. When Obama took office, there were still lots of hot issues in this region, whichdirects the United States’ policy towards the Middle East.To analyze Obama administration’s Middle East policy, this paper is divided into threechapters. Chapter1introduces the background of Obama administration’s Middle East policy.At first, this chapter analyzes the problems, which including the influence of global financialcrisis, the result of the George W Bush administration’s Middle East policy and the image of theUnited States, confronting the United States in the Middle East. And then analyzes the UnitedStates’ core interest in this region from perspectives of security, energy and Israel. Chapter2analyzes the Obama administration’s Middle East policy in detail. This chapter, at first,analyzes the principle Obama administration abides by when adjusting its Middle East policy,then discusses the content of the Obama administration’s Middle East policy, which containsthe Iraq issue, counter-terrorism, Israeli-Palestinian peace talks, Iran issue and chaos in theMiddle East in2011. At last, summarizes the features and essence of the Obamaadministration’s Middle East policy. Chapter3makes an analysis of restricting factors ofObama administration’s Middle East policy from aspects of domestic circumstance, the MiddleEast region and other external forces. In a word, Obama administration’s Middle East policybecomes more flexible and pragmatic, which does not mean that the United States altered itsstrategic attempt in the Middle East, instead, America will continuously spare no efforts inmaintaining its dominant status in this region. |
