Under The Perspective Of Modern Egyptian Political Stability Studies

In2011, a popular protest demonstration which developed into a nationwideuprising overthrew the Mubarak regime. In reviewing Egyptian history, it is easy todiscover that political instability has long been threatening the Egyptian government.Studying the Egyptian case has many implications for both Arab countries and othercountries in the modernization process.The paper reviewed the modernization process of the Egyptian society and foundthat political modernization in Egypt far lags behind economical and socialmodernization. Consequently, the political system could not sustain the tremendouspressure and brought about a series of political, economical and social problems,posing a big challenge for political stability. The public became disappointed andthen furious, which led to the collapse of political order. What’s more, externalfactors served as a catalyst for the conflict to break out.The paper is divided into four parts. The first part introduces the related politicalterms and talks about the pressure that the modernization process exerts on politicalstability theoretically. The second part is the summary of the Egyptian process andfinds that its political development does not match the economical and socialdevelopment, causing tension for the political system. The third part focuses on themajor reasons that led to instability and the2011revolution and reaches a conclusionthat political instability was due to accumulated problems in political, economical andsocial terms and was boosted to break out under external pressure. The fourth partlooks into the future development of the Egyptian politics and summarizes itsimplications for other countries.
