This thesis mainly discusses the socioeconomic situation and new changes ofChinese Americans in the aspects of immigration, income, employment, education, political participation and intermarriage, and the background and reasons behind thesechanges since the21stcentury.Since the Gold Rush in the late19thcentury, through all kinds of hardship, discrimination, and exclusion, the population of Chinese Americans has beenexpanding, and their influence has been gradually strengthened, so that they havebecome one of the most remarkable ethnic minorities in the U.S. Besides thecontinuing traditional advantages such as income, employment and education asbefore, their social influence, political participation and integration into themainstream society have greatly improved. This thesis further analyzes the international background behind these changes, and researches their influences on Chinese Americans. The greatest change in the pastten years of the21stcentury is the challenges and opportunities that both China andthe U.S. are facing domestically and globally, and the shift of their national strengths.Financial crisis has seriously shocked the American economy, and made interestgroups and ethnic minorities in the U.S. more divided. While at the same time, Chinahas achieved rapid economic growth and increasing international influence. Theeconomic and trade cooperation between the two countries have also reached a newheight. All these factors help Chinese Americans improve their popularity andinfluence in American mainstream society, explore a new business path in the U.S.,and play a more important role as an exchange bridge between the two countries.Starting from this threshold, it can be predicted that there will be many changes onChinese Americans, fundamentally changing their silent image.
