With the development of the society, folk lantern dance, opera, havealready been fading gradually. Yunnan Lantern opera, among those rare operas in China,which has become blurred among people as being a traditional art form, even someyounger generations don’t know of its existence. Therefore, trying to find out waysto attract more audiences to gain substantial growth for Yunnan lantern opera hasbecome the major problem to consider when we are creating of Yunnan Lantern operas.We will have three chapters in this essay; the first chapter gives a briefintroduction to Yunnan Lantern opera, in terms of historical origins, factors offormation, its characteristics and forms. The second chapter will do research onthe evolution of Yunnan Lantern, by comparison of various local regions within Yunnan,focusing on four important factors contributing greatly to its development, whichof those are politic, economy, culture and society separately. The third chapterwill analyze the creation of Yunnan Lantern opera, which begins with the creationin different historical periods, including characteristics of creation, content andits forms; Next, to analyze factors which has been impacting the development ofYunnan Lantern creation, ranging from public aesthetic evolution, culture shock,lack of talents and ways of innovation; In the end comes thoughts on the innovativecreation of Yunnan Lantern opera, in which my research will cover improvingindividual discipline, innovation upon traditional culture and content, form ofdance. In the closing remarks, I concluded thoughts on the innovation of YunnanLantern opera creation. I hope my study present in this essay is able to give certainsuggestions for reference on the creation of Yunnan Lantern operas.
