In the21st century, the Book of Song has been into a multi-disciplinary research, untilit was pulled back from the astray road led by the Study of Confucian Classic into a literaryway. And the intrinsic beauty of the Book of Song was restored, whatever in terms ofartistic form or the way of expression, thus, it can’t be ignored that the Book of Song hasgreat influence on the development of Chinese poetry.Aesthetic circles have shown theirgreat interests in the research of the Book of Song in recent years. And, this paper isattempted to bring the outcomes of research from the Book of Song to aesthetic research,then to explore the relationships between the ancient poetry and painting.This paper can be divided into three chapters apart from the introduction andconclusion.Chapter One. Theory ponder on the relationship between poetry and painting. Ingeneral, this relationship can be divided with two opposite views, someone take the poetryand painting for homogeneous arts while other just take the opposite. Through the deepresearch on the relationship carried out by previous theories focusing on the comparisonbetween east and west, ancient and modern, following by the brief introduction of varioustheories, it concludes with a dialectical perspective on the relationship between poetry andpainting.Chapter Two. The relationship between poetry and painting in the Book of Song.Without question, the Book of Song is the oldest Chinese poetry, and starting with thisparticular characteristic, this chapter will analyze the origin, earlier interaction, historicalfunction, of the relationship between poetry and painting in the Book of Song. And also, itwill analyze the similarities and differences between poetry and painting through theirinherent artistic characters.Chapter Three. Showing the implications behind the Book of Song. The Book of Songhas three literary techniques called “more than FuXing”, while Chinese painting also hasthree techniques to express their way of thinking known as traditional line drawing,traditional Chinese realistic painting, abstract painting. This chapter will build a connectionthat will put what have mentioned above put together, in fact, they’ve just matched witheach other. Then, we can derive their similarities. We can classify and show theimplications behind the Book of Song through the language used in poetry.
