"the West Chamber" Dual Word Study

The study on Chinese vocabulary has a long history, and many brilliant results have been achieved. As the bridge which connects the Ancient Chinese and the Modern Chinese, the Modern Chinese has very high value on the study of vocabulary history. Only by studying the Modern Chinese vocabulary comprehensively and profoundly, we can really contact the development and change of Chinese vocabulary on different periods and clear the development vein of Chinese vocabulary. At present, to the study of Modern Chinese, scholars have studied the contents such as the vocabulary sources, the word formation, and the interpretations of the dialect proverb, and good results have also been achieved. But, the comprehensive and systematic research on Modern Chinese vocabulary remains relatively weak, the overall face of Modern Chinese remains relatively fuzzy, and the study still needs further to strengthen.The Western Chamber is the classic poral work of the yuan dynasty. The more thering is no lack of nature and simple in its concise language, and it can be said refined. Its expressions are rich in dialect proverb and city language jargon, close to the spoken language of that period, and it is an important work which can be used to research the Modern Chinese vocabulary.This paper uses some standard, such as significance, grammatical structure and form, to segmentation out all the dual words in The Western Chamber, it also analyses and discusses these words about the structure, semantic, parts of speech, etc. Hoping to preliminary understand the vocabulary face of The Western Chamber.This paper is divided into five parts.The first part is "Introduction". At first, show the topic significance. The second, introduce the situation of the Western Chamber version and the master copy used in this study. At last, work out the defined standards of the dual words in the Western Chamber. The second part is "The structure mode and semantic analysis of the dual words in the Western Chamber’. This part comprehensively and detailedly analyses the structure mode of all the dual words in The Western Chamber, then do the classification and statistics. At the same time, also meticulously analysis and classify the semantic relationships within the morpheme of the compand dual words, and find out the complexity of its semantic.The third part is "The analysis on the part of speech and the morpheme combinations of the dual words in The Western Chamber". This part, according to the structure mode of the second part, classification explores the part of speech of the dual words and the morpheme combinations of the dual compounds in The Western Chamber, and conclude its features on the part of speech and the morpheme combinations.The forth part is "The type analysis of the multiple-meaning words of the dual words in The Western Chamber". For this feature that many dual words in The Western Chamber have different meanings in different contexts of the text, this part analyzes the types of the dual tone multiple-meaning words in The Western Chamber according to some examples, then reveals the semantic richness and complexity of the dual words in The Western Chamber, and reflects the development of the significance of Chinese vocabulary.The fifth part is "Conclusion". Summarize the research results in full.
