Through the practice of the contemporary Chinese television documentaries, a unique paradigm of the TV documentaries has been developed. Therefore, some summary before is still applicable, while others need to be rewritten, especially the aesthetic pattern and cultural paradigm of the TV documentaries.It’s important to understand the reality for TV documentary-directors since their work is about the representation of the real world. Without a deep percipience, it’s hard to decide what to represent and how to represent or deal with other specific problems."Television" was considered to be a typical model for the post-modern culture. In that case, a TV documentary would be different from a documentary for the cinema and needs to be observed in the horizon of the Post-Modernism.The first chapter combed the existing research achievements about the contemporary Chinese television documentaries. Literature and art theories should be applied on the analysis of the TV documentaries since it’s the only way to understand this kind of cultural products. Thus, the TV documentaries become a special object among all the TV programs. The second chapter focused on how the Post-Modernism developed in China. The meaning of "reality" has been changed in the post-modern culture, while people started to get different feelings about time and space with different emotional intense from the past. In considering an art of representation, the ontology of the TV documentaries should be clarified based on the Chinese context.The third chapter put an emphasis on the analysis of contemporary Chinese TV documentaries as complex samples. The combine of the theoretical deduction and the practical aspects would corroborate a solid understanding of the research object. The last chapter tried to summarize the cultural paradigm and the aesthetic pattern of the contemporary Chinese TV documentaries. What’s more, it will always be a dynamic process to confirm the paradigm of the subject. To explore the paradigm of the contemporary Chinese TV documentaries will be important for the confirmation of its identity and bring out more masterpieces.
