Jiang Wen is an actor and director. As a director, Jiang Wen has so far directed onlyfour films. They are "In The Heat of The Sun"(1994),"Devils On The Doorstep"(1998),"The Sun Also Rises"(2007) and "Let The Bullets Fly"(2010). Every moviehe directed has received instant success and popularity and the absurd scenes in hisworks are especially impressive. Jiang Wen’s films were admired for many reasons.With irony as the breakthrough point, this paper analyses the major features ofartistic style in Jiang Wen’s films, in hope of demonstrating the distinctiveness inJiang Wen’s films.This paper has six parts and it is mainly divided into four parts: main features of ironyand film irony, irony including theme irony, structural irony and irony audiencecreated represented in Jiang Wen’s films which is the most important part, the reasonsfor generating irony as well as its aesthetic value for the revelation of the presentfilms.
