The outbreak of war shifted the center of Chinese literature in the1940s which is different from the characteristics of new literature berfore twenty years.The war had an extremely vital impact on the social life,individual psychology,mental state and literature writings. In this period," family narratives" which is regarded as an impotant theme of strories projected this kind of impact and changes. From three differents perspectives, this paper pays more attentions on the complicate relationship between families, individuals, society and the country in the stories of1940s and on reconstruction of family ethics. It is purposed to explore the trend of national mentality during the war,complex environment of society,history and culture,and writers’attitude and to choose the influence on the trend of literature.In part one "family narratives" is postioned in Chinese modern literature axis since the May4th Movement. According to the recovery of attitude on and rebuilt literature background, it analyses the peculiarities of "family narratives" in the1940s and the hidden reasons.In part two based on the characteristics between "the1940s"and"area Guomintang occupied", it explores the hidden narrative functions of "families" and the unrest fate in "the big times" of individual "family" and family members.In part three,it takes the different characteristics of an area lead by wars in the1940s into account to seek the different characteristics of "family narratives" in areas the Guomintang occupied and liberated areas with different forms of political power and ideology. Finally it summarizes the whole characteristics, gains and losses of "family narratives" in stories in areas Guomintang occupied in1940s.
