"v O To" Study

"V qi O lai" is an active structure in Modern Mandarin. However, the study on this structure is still very little. Based on sufficient language material, this article is focused on studying its semantics and form. Adopting Cognitive Linguistics as the framework, the main research methods of the article are semantic category extension, metaphor and displacement schemas.The article gets three basic viewpoints. Firstly, the Structure of "V qi O lai" has four kinds of meaning:displacement, achievement, inchoative aspect meaning and the mark of topics. Secondly, the latter three meanings are the semantic category extensions of displacement meaning. Thirdly,"qi…lai " is the separated form of "Qi lai", their semantic is similar while there are some differences in specific meanings.The main conclusions results and innovations of the articles are as follows. Firstly, the semantic of "V qi O lai" is fully studied. Secondly, the situation types of V are researched in different meanings of "V qi O lai". Thirdly, the article discusses the relationship of "qi…lai" and "Qilai" from the semantic aspect.The issue is discussed by seven sections. Section one introduces the object, methods, purpose, and significance of the study. Source of the language material used in the chapter is also explained in this part. Section two is a review of past research. From section three to six, the article is focused on the four meanings of "V qi O lai" respectively. Section seven reviews the whole paper, analyzing its achievements and its limitation.
