The line in drawing is one of the more important language forms of the Chinesepainting, in the meantime, exactly alike of the Chinese mountains-and-waters painting.The Chinese mountains-and-waters painting was grown up from the Wei Dynasty, theJin Dynasty and the Northern and Southern Dynastic; independent in the TangDynasty; a period of great prosperity in the Song Dynasty, and up to went downhill inthe Ming Dynasty and the Qing Dynasty. We can vividly catch sight of thedevelopment of the line which regards as the Chinese moulding foundation of theChinese painting. Firstly, the text inquire into the course of the developing andideological root-cause of the line. Secondly, the next has a better understanding of thechanged process which is from the line of the traditional Chinesemountains-and-waters painting to use of the writing brushes and ink sticks in themodern times, at the same time, illustrates some more important artists, for example,Huang Binhong, Fu Baoshi, Lin Fengmian, Wu Guanzhong and so on.
