| The Book of Songs is one of the "classics" in Chinese poetry. It not only laid the solid foundation for realistic tradition in Chinese poetry, but also showed great spiritual power. The Book of Songs served as an spiritual pillar in the Chinese civilization. Shu Sunmu, the Qin of Country Lu, explained "death and immortality" for Fan Xuanzi who is his counterpart of Country Jin as:Build moral ethics at first, then meritorious service, and finally creations."(Zuo-Xianggong, twenty-four years) The Book of Songs was the demonstration of Confucian who compiled books. The collective wisdom of "The Book of Songs" not only reflects the author’s insights and emotion, but also contains political ideal, cultural spirit and humanistic care of Confucians. They focus their attention on people’s living, especially women’s problems, which is an achievement that has yet to be matched in the following two thousand years. Therefore, to find out the essence in the book can provide important reference in solving problems concerning modern society women, and helping to build a harmonious society.The paper, about fifty thousand words, is divided into three parts:the introduction, the body and the conclusion. The body is divided into four chapters.The first chapter discusses the lovesick women poetry and abandoned women poetry and gives them a clear definition so as to make a distinction between them. Besides, this part also points out how to distinguish the two kinds of poetry, and the chapter also lists the two kinds of poems respectively. With the analysis of the two kinds of poems, the chapter highlights the importance and meaning of these poems played in "the Book of Songs".The second chapter gives an analysis about the reason for the existence of these poems. The separation of couples caused by military service, corvee are the main reasons for so many lovesick women poems. Women’s getting old and men’s betrayal are the direct reasons of broken relationship of married men and women. Therefore there exists abandoned women poetry. What’s more, different economic status between men and women resulted in the inferiority of women. Women, therefore, had to regard home as the sole place which they count on. Since women depend unduly on their partners to get sense of security, it is inevitable that women would have much pressure and loneliness when their husbands leave home. Additionally, with realistic pressure, a large amount of lovesick women poetry and abandon women poetry are supposed to come up.The third chapter, divided into three parts, discusses the formation of tradition of concerning women and the vulnerable group. First, this part explores the relationship between the thought in Zhou dynasty and the tradition in "The Book of Songs". Zhou dynasty learned the lesson from Xia and Shang dynasty and ruled its country with the thought of "worship god and protect the people""worship goodness and moral ethics". All of these laid the foundation for the form of "The Book of Songs" based on the ideal of "checking politic through poetry". The second part is to discuss the relationship between Confucius’s concerns for women and the formation of the tradition of "The Book of Songs". Confucius was deeply influenced by Zhou culture, and inherited Zhou’s thoughts on putting weight on people’s living. As the collector of the Three Hundred Poems, he retained a large number of thinking women’s poetry and abandoned wives poems in the "The Book of Songs", and these poems are related to women’s survival."The Book of Songs" is taken as teaching materials. All of the above reflected that the Confucianism concerned about human nature and people’s livelihood, contributing a lot to the formation of "The Book of songs". The third part integrated the thinking women’s poetry and the abandoned wives poem in "The Book of Songs" into the Confucian culture in pre-Qin dynasty. It also explores the relationship between the political philosophy and the formation of the traditions in "The Book of Songs". Influenced by the Confucian thought of people orientation and Confucian’s political philosophy as well as marriage ethics, the chapter focuses its attention on the formation of the traditions in "The Book of Songs".The Fourth Chapter discusses the impact of "The Book of Songs" from three aspects:the formation of the excellent quality of Chinese women, outstanding women in the later biographical literature and the caring towards women by later generations. |
