Du Zheng was a Neo-Confucianist at the native place of Bashu region in the middle-late period of Southern Song Dynasty. He was Zhu Xi’s disciple and Yang Fang’s tutor.His Neo-Confucianism has inherited the thinking about Cheng-Zhu and Zhang Shi etc.He has his opinions of the Heaven of theory,self-theory and Confucian orthodoxy.His ideas of Neo-Confucianism has a significant characteristics for practicality and adoption both sinology and Neo-Confucianism.He has several amendments to the disadvantages of Neo-Confucianism in the later period of Southern Song Dynasty.This has reflected a new tendency about Southern Song Neo-Confucianism.In the later period of Southern Song Dynasty,the Shu-Xue has being fading gradually and integrated with Neo-Confucianism of Cheng-Zhu’s.Du Zheng has studied and been an officer for his lifetime,meanwhile,he has made friends widely.He has propagandize Neo-Confucianism with his friends.Therefore,he has contributed to the development in depth of Shu-Xue.So Du Zheng has a certain status in the history of Shu-Xue and Neo-Confucianism.
