American sinologist Stephen Owen is a famous expert specializing in Chineseclassical literature. He puts forward a standpoint that one of the Chinese classical literaturecharacteristics can be seen as "fragment", i.e. the China classical literary works are"fragments". The term "fragments" was not invented by Stephen Owen, but he was the firstone who viewed classical literary works as "fragments". From the perspective of modernpeople,Stephen Owen wove these "fragments" into some thought-provoking works, meanwhile, he put forward some thought-provoking propositions with his western theorybackground when facing a vast amount of "fragments" in traditional literary works. This thesis tries to discuss the theory of "fragments" and expose the ignored poeticresearch of Stephen Owen’s Chinese classical literature research by making the definitionof "fragments", analyzing the tool of explanation of "fragments", and summarizing thetheme of "fragments".This thesis consists of five parts.
