Abstract/Summary:
Since the reform and opening-up, China has gradually improved its comprehensive national strength and upgraded its position around the globe. It leads to a Chinese Craze and Chinese Culture Craze within the world scale, which has promoted the wide communication between China and the rest of the world in various aspects and brought opportunities for the development of China’s business of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language on one hand, and brought more challenges to our teaching and research in the area on the other hand.It is well known that culture and language are closely related and language is one necessary composition part of culture. The twain have a close relationship as whole and part which is indivisible. The element of culture teaching takes a position to be reckoned with in the area of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language, and the foreign students need to learn the culture knowledge related to Chinese which could enable them to know the Chinese culture and master Chinese language fundamentally. The language knowledge is one necessary method to realize verbal communication, and the culture is the important assurance for the language propriety and efficient realization of verbal communication.As Chinese learners with various aims have shown great interests in Chinese Culture and the teaching practices and theories have been largely enriched, the importance of culture teaching has been fully recognized and gained popular emphasize within different universities. However, as the students come from different countries with different culture backgrounds, the culture conflicts occur at times in the practice of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language which is one cross cultural teaching activity. The situation has protruded the importance of the research on culture conflict.At present, the researches on culture conflict are not few, but generally, the fruits of the researches are not rich and few researches have discussed the issue in the view of cross cultural view as the cross cultural communication ability is one important cultivation goal in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language. The present researches are mainly concentrated in the following three areas:(1) the embodiments of culture conflicts;(2) strategies for handling culture conflicts and demands for teachers; and (3) the reason analysis for culture conflicts. These researches have opened ways for us, but most of them only discuss a certain part of the issue without systematicness and versatility. Additionally, the researches concentrating on one part of the issue have still had defects such as only concerning the side of the teachers when discussing the strategies for handling the culture conflicts with few discussion on the demands on the students’capabilities and few discussion on the specific teaching methods in the class culture teaching area. Simultaneously, many researches have not enough proves on the reasons for forming culture conflicts and analyse the culture difference and conflicts in the view of Chinese-Western contrast with few researches on the culture conflicts with the Chinese culture circle. All these researches have provided chances and angles for the research of this paper. Aiming at the practical conflicts occurring in the present culture teaching, this thesis will analyse the reasons thereof and put forth practical and efficient solutions to realize real culture integration and promote the spread of Chinese in the world.
