What is self-esteem? Is self-esteem a model of processing towardsparticular information and would be activated at particular situation? And how does this inner model work? This research induces activeself-esteem by using calculation tasks at different difficulty levels. WithStroop paradigm,90undergraduates and90junior middle schoolstudent participants were conducted to name the color of positive, negative and neutral word stimuli. Then they finished the test of wordsrecognition. The undergraduates participants results show thatparticipants with high self-esteem were more sensitive to negativewords constantly; while under the activation of high and low difficultcalculating tasks, they were suppressive to positive words. Participantswith low self-esteem were more sensitive to positive words, while theywere suppressive to negative words. No calculating tasks induced noattentional bias among word stimuli. Participants with high self-esteemand low self-esteem recognized better for negative information.Thejunior middle school students participants results show that participantswith high self-esteem and low self-esteem were more sensitive topositive words constantly; while under the activation of low difficultcalculating tasks, they were suppressive to negative words. Participantswith high self-esteem and low self-esteem recognized better fornegative information.
