Revolving around Livia Drusilla, this paper mainly focuses on herperformance and influence of political participation. Livia Drusilla is notonly the wife of Augustus, who is the first emperor of the Roman Empire,but also Tiberiuss mother, and she experiences the age of transitionalRome from republic to monarchy, thus she is a special figure. Reviewingon the history of her involvement in politics, this paper studies Romanwomen’s characteristics and effects of participation in government atthe age of Empires.This paper is divided into three parts. The first chapter describesLivia’s life, which includes her family background and two marriages,and discusses the superiority of her family and marriages with the twomeans of women’s political participation in Rome. In the Chapter II,through introducing Livia’s silence after marriage and her publicbehaviors, the paper represents her rise of the road. Meanwhile,according to the historical records, the paper analyzes Livia’s rise byconditions of the times. The third chapter reviews Livia s achievementsand impacts in the field of political, religious and privatelife,demonstrates the characteristics of womens political participationduring the period of Roman Empire and the impact on futuregenerations.
