Huang Zong-xi’s research of the neo-Confucianism of the Song and Ming dynasties, is a typical in research ancient Chinese academic. His research profoundly influenced later ages’research of Chinese academic. Huang Zong-xi had a rich and colorful life, his academic research also have three stages:the preceding of neo-Confucianism stage(1649--1667), the first neo-Confucianism stage(1667--1676) and the second neo-Confucianism stage(1676--1695). At the preceding neo-Confucianism, although Huang Zong-xi’s focus was the practical problem and the later Ming dynasty’s political situation, he also discussed Confucianism problems. At the first neo-Confucianism stage, actually, Huang Zong-xi thought the Qi was the noumenon, emphasized the Qi, ignore the Tian-li. At the second Confucianism stage, Huang Zong-xi was from the Qiology to Mind study. Huang Zong-xi insisted the Qi,on the another hand, he was more emphasis on the Tian-li. And he reflected his Qiology. At the three stages, Huang Zong-xi had different understand to neo-Confucianism. The changes were reaction to his neo-Confucianism research. With research Huang Zong-xi’s three stages, we can have a more comprehensive understanding to his neo-Confucianism research.
