Song of Solomon is Toni Morrison’s another masterpiece novel after the publicationof The Bluest Eye and Sula, in both of which the destinies of Afro-Americans areexplored. The novel explores such thematic concerns as love, marriage and family of athree-generation black family, from the first generation living a hard-earned happy lifeto the second one living in emotional void, and to the last one gaining a new perceptionof relationship between man and woman, and regaining happiness. Morrison’s views oflove, marriage and family can be clearly seen in the novel.Employing the theory of ethical literary criticism, from the perspectives of loveethics, marriage ethics, family ethics, and the ethical background of the novel,thisthesis attempts to analyze the ethical imbalance in love, marriage, and family as well asto probe the causes of ethical imbalance and the restoring of it. |
