"ChangYang" was the name people gave two famous ministers Chang Gun andYang Yan in the mid Tang Dynasty, they lived through several important periods ofhistory like the Kaiyuan, Tianbao and Dali, etc. They were also known as thecelebrated masters who were speaking for the emperor. Their proses played animportant role in the research of the literary creation in the turning point betweenprosperous Tang Dynasty and mid Tang Dynasty. The existing works of them are withnumerous styles, including poetry, fu, chao, memorials, inscriptions, epitaphs, praise,etc., the most outstanding part of them are the proses, this is also the focus of thispaper.ChangYang’s prose works are very substantial, although most of them areantithetical, there are also some loose sentence and the combination of the two formats.Their common creation style is the richness and variety of language and expression.Their difference is Chang Gun’s style is graceful and elegant, while Yang Yan’s isgrand and ambitious.This paper, based on their specific works, combined with their experience and thecontemporary social, political and cultural background, strives to comprehensivelyrepresent of the thoughts, feelings and style tendencies, etc., so that we can giveobjective evaluations to ChangYang’s varies works.
