Chinese Painting Color Analysis

The color is the important elements of the painting, which is very fascinating and has a deep relationship with our life. To think highly of the color, is not to have art down to the secular, but to make the art return to life. Chinese painting is influenced by the broad and profound Chinese culture. After thousands years of perfection, it formed a special style of language and thinking and established art forms that wasn’t dominated by the western aesthetic consciousness. The traditional philosophy by China has the influence on the color performance of Chinese painting. And we build the East visual style which are different with western painting and has characteristics such as ornamental or symbolic, thus forming the unique Oriental aesthetic pursuit. In reality, however, there are some people who are ignorant for the color of Chinese painting. They think that our color is not more powerful and scientific than western, even can be assimilated in the future. To this phenomenon, as a practitioner of traditional Chinese realistic painting, I should pay more attention to and investigate the color of Chinese painting. In the first, this paper explains the forming basis of the traditional color view point from the Chinese traditional philosophy. Then with the constant impact from foreign culture, it emerges enormous change on the traditional color performance and idea of Chinese painting. Our color has the trend of the development towards diversification in the contemporary. Through deep analysis for the color of Chinese painting, we are more aware of that the color is not at a standstill but developing with the times.
