The late1970’s, The wave of Western Experimental Theater almost wentto the end. British director Peter Brook, opened another door with hisexploration. As the most important theater director of twentieth Century,he travels to Africa, India, Britain, and other different countries to findthe essence of drama, and the relationship between drama and its the viewers. The complex background and experience made his works full of culturalcharacteristics, many works have subvert the thinking ways of drama actorsand directors, and what he does is just keeping in continuous exploration.Brook’s dramatic works is a revolution, the one and only, although the filmcreation is always second to the exploration of drama, but his film as a newway to do art work, Brook also demonstrated his unique idea. Brook’s filmwork is also not a unified style,《Moderato Cantabile》 in the creation ofthe French New Wave cinema movement, and《Lords of the flies》 appeared manynew characteristics of American movies,《Meeting with remarkable man》 mixedthe documentary and drama, movie is a very small part of his long art career, and mostly plays and novels as the background, this is why his film isdifferent from others. Then, the stage of the film also presents thediversification of this combination of drama and movie, with more mature andunique. This paper focuses on the analysis what make Brook’s film unique andwhat is his intention of film works. Different and creative ways--whichis very important to the drama style--simple and" empty space". Maybe thefilm itself merely express the authors’ own appeal, but its essence is a kindof exploration.
