"visible" Of Women - Li Yu Female Film Studies

Since it enters the new century, female movie directors emerges in endless stream, presenting the flourishing status of female works, however, there are rarely female movies of real connotation in China. Li Yu is one of female movie directors of great importance and individuality in China. Although she does not have works of huge number, attentions have been attached on her since she frequently received international movie prizes. In2011, Li Yu’s new movie "Guanyin Mountain"obtained praise when exhibited on Tokyo International Film Festival, which endowed Fan Bingbing the crown of The Best Actress. Thus, Li was on the public focus again.Li Yu’s works express uniqueness among Chinese female movies. By the dash of a young female director, the voluntarily care upon female noumenon and the obvious view angel of the female, she created female movies rarely seen in China, to boost the female movie industry. Currently, study on Li’s movies in domestic movie circles mainly focus on single movie analysis, mostly from the angle of literature narration and plot creativity, which sorts her works as the6th movies for research, instead of systematically implement text decoding of the narration and language in the movie, from the direction of "Female Movie".Now this paper, based on the female movie theory, carries out text perusing from respects of female figures portrait, female theme, movie language, and movie narration, to reveal the distinct female consciousness of her movie, and find the basis as female movies. The paper also tries to explore the value and defect of Li Yu’s female movies, to provide reference for current creation and spreading of Chinese female movies. Chapter1narrates the growing and working experience of Li Yu. Chapter2peruses text from the level of movie narration, as well as analyse three questions in movie by the female movie theory, i.e., the body, marriage and love, and the future. Chapter3scrutinizes the movie language of Li from camera shots,space and imagery, to reveal the female consciousness. Chapter4to sort out the value and defects of Li Yu’s movies.
