Around the third or fourth decade of the twentieth century, the Chinese modern literature remembered one name of a smash hit woman--Eileen Chang. Controling words with ease and verve, in a peculiar and magnificent way of narrative, with cold and desolate style, she left a lasting glory to modern literature.Different from mainstream writers which are indulged in the grand narrative (nation-states, history, revolution) since the May Fourth New Culture Movement, Eileen Chang became writer and performer of civil life belongs to natural and instinct man under the prevailing trend of the political discourse in power and the revolution sweeping everything, with her unique values and outlook on life free outside the mainstream thought.Since the 1990s, Eileen Chang is repeated and interpreted again and again. Previous people examine and explore the connotations of its work from the point of view of artistic skills and aesthetic value, but this article focuses on the existential point of view to examine and delve Eileen Chang works that describe the details of daily life such as food, clothing, daily living, with Heidegger and Sartre’s existential point of view, to explore unique absurd nothingness values and survival status of Eileen Chang from the text with the result that reveal the Eileen Chang’s digestion of traditional realism, the ideal moral of romanticism world and the positive value of faith, to show the meaningless and disillusionment of existence. Meanwhile, combining Eileen Chang personal life experiences, dig deep incentives for the formation of such mental.In addition, I put the analysis about basic necessities of daily life in the specific background, to show the fashion of old Shanghai in the 1930s and 1940s from the perspective of social epidemiology as well as showing the poetic character.These words may be immature, but try to be innovative.
