In the 20th century in the United States, Jack London, a distinguished writer whosuffered a lot from a child, held a profound understanding of existence and life. Heblended personal experience and feeling to create lots of literature which shows lifephilosophy and with a style of a sharp growth imprint. All of Jack London’s life andliterary creation was greatly influenced by Germany philosopher Nietzsche. The spiritof transcendence which called for by Nietzsche had always encouraged growing Jack,guided him to higher ideals and led him to create a series of literature which including"Superman" growth traces.However, in the face of American acute social contradictions and tumultuousexistence, Jack London were unable to calmly set an ideal of life which majorityhoped, for "Superman", but ended with works of "Nietzsche’s tragic" according to thesocial realities of that time and drawing on Nietzsche’s view of tragedy. ThroughoutLondon’s creation in different period, it is not difficult to find that in his works, suchas Odyssey of the North, Martin Eden, and White Fang, "Superman" philosophyalways coexist with tragic ends. So, why is "Superman" tending to be tragedy? Howshould people jump off the tragic fate to find out a habitat of the spirit? The article,combined with Nietzsche’s "Superman" philosophy, mainly explores Jack London’s"Superman" tragedy and reveals the ultimate cause of the tragedy, seeking a way outto the spirit of mankind.The paper can be divided into three parts. The first part will analyze the works ofJack London’s "Superman" image with the combination of Nietzsche’s "Superman"philosophy from two aspects of "Superman" image on the characteristics and types.The characteristics of "superman" features include: to yearn for life in the image ofreality, to have a strong will and a critical spirit, to be optimistic and easy ofDionysian spirit. The type of "Superman" image mainly comes from its source,making a classification of the works of Jack London’s "Superman" and studyingintuitively and concretely. The second part, with Nietzsche’s view of tragedy, analyzesthe works of Jack London’s "Superman" of the tragedy. It searches on the connotation of the tragedy in Nietzsche’s works, and generalizes "Superman" connotation of thetragedy into the demise of the flesh and the spirit of destruction. The third part studieson the causes and significance of creating the tragedy and make a "Superman"dialectical complement analysis of the limitations of the tragedy.
