| This thesis focuses on the techniques employed in legal English translation. The reason and significance of choosing The Yale Corporation By-laws for translation is firstly expressed in front part of this paper, it is worthy of translating because of its strong model effect, which could be followed by other universities. Then the characteristics of legal English are analyzed. Then, the difficulties as well as some translation techniques are well introduced. As for words, they could be classified into four terms:legal terms, justice terms, old English terms and common usage terms. For sentences, they could be divided into long sentences and complex sentences. The critical commentary is composed of the experience gained from the translation. |
