The Modern Chinese "a A B" Format

This thesis presents a specific study on the categories and characteristics of the "-A-B" pattern in the modern Chinese, based on the symmetrical structure of Chinese idioms. With simple forms and straight structures, the phrases in the pattern of "-A-B" are widely used in the modern Chinese. Besides, such phrases are readable by giving a flowing sense, so they are highly valuable in practical use. On the basis of the existing research results, a large number of examples in the pattern of "-A-B" are gathered in this thesis, which also presents detailed description and analysis on the definitions, classification of language and speech categories, internal components, semantics as well as the functional usage, in order to draw the outline of the "-A-B" pattern in the modern Chinese. From the aspects mentioned above, this thesis analyzes the general characteristics which have been recognized without systematical elaboration, and reveals its significance in the symmetrical structure of Chinese, for the purpose that the "-A-B" pattern can be understood more clearly and the students will be able to master its usage in an easier way while learning Chinese.The current researches have made outstanding achievements in the syntactic and semantic categorization of the "-A-B" pattern. However, these researches are inadequate in the background of the symmetry between Chinese idioms and Chinese expression, as well as the categories of the language and speech which are in the "-A-B" pattern. Therefore, our research is innovative for its analysis on the background of the "-A-B" pattern, as well as the categories of its language and speech.The article first part discusses the form limits question. Mainly carries on from two aspects elaborated that form limits standard and basis, form basic characteristic. Second part of discussion of the"-A-B" pattern in Chinese symmetrical form status. Here said the symmetrical form mainly refers to the idiom the symmetrical form and Chinese expression symmetry. Arranges this part, we emphasized we study altitude form background elaboration. The third part mainly carried on the classification to the language and speech, to Pointed out the language’s "-A-B" is the fixed word group,the speech’s "-A-B" is the free phrase. The fourth part inspect "-A-B" pattern internal constitution. The fifth part, mainly prominent "-A-B" pattern characteristic from discuss the form may divide into the contraction from "-A-B" pattern, and may hit, A and B order, form extending, and A, B breaks the balanced. Sixth part to Elaboration "-A-B" pattern special usage.We make full use of the mathematical statistics method in the research, while taking the method of exhaustion partially. Meanwhile, we focus on the combination of description and interpretation. The concept of structural hierarchy is essential for the description methods. Thus, we strictly conform to this concept in analyzing the "-A-B" pattern.
