Lrig1 Relation With Meningioma Proliferation And Significance Of Research

Objectives:We investigate the relationship between LRIG1and Ki-67in meningiomas via detecting the expression of LRIG1and Ki-67in various grades of meningiomas, which might provide theoretical basis for treatment and prognosis for patients with meningiomas.Methods:We studied eighty-seven specimens diagnosed as meningiomas of various histological types and grades extracted from patients who underwent surgery firstly in the department of neurosurgery of the second xiangya hospital of CSU during the period from October,2009to November,2011. None of these patients underwent brain operations before. Eleven normal brain meninges specimens used as the control group were obtained from patients with acute craniocerebral injury who underwent subtemporal decompression during the period from April,2011to November,2011. Patients in control group didn’t have the history of neoplasia. All these specimens were divided into four groups: according to the WHO classification of brain tumors in2007, it were categorized into grade I group with sixty-eight cases, grade II with eleven cases and grade III group with eight cases and eleven specimens of normal brain meninges as control group. Western Blot was used to detect the expression of LRIG1and Ki-67in meningiomas and control group.Results1. Expression of LRIG1in the tumor group is significant lower than that in normal control group. There are statistical differences among various grades of meningiomas in terms of expression of LRIG1.2.The expression of Ki-67in the tumor group significant higher than that in normal control group. There are statistical differences among various grades of meningiomas in terms of expression of Ki-67.3In meningiomas, the expression of LRIG1and Ki-67was negative correlated(P<0.05).Conclusions1.The expression of LRIG1in meningiomas was lower than that in normal control group. Its expression decreases along with the tumor grade.2.The expression of Ki-67in meningioma group was higher than that in normal control group. Its expression increases along with the the tumor grade3. LRIG1may restrain prolifeiration of meningiomas.
