Objective:To evaluate protective effects of L-carnitine on acute myocardial ischemia reperfusion injury in isolated rat heart and compare difference of L-Carnitine(L-CN) postconditioning and preconditioning and synergistic effect of both on myocardial I/R injury in isolated rat heart. Methods:All hearts were randomly divided into 5 groups:Control group,Postconditioning group (IPo), L-CN postconditioning group(LIPo), L-CN preconditioning group (LIPc) and L-CN preconditioning combined with L-CN postconditioning group (LIPP). L-Cn was given for 10 minute. Coronary flow (CF,ml/min), heart rate (HR) and contents of CK, LDH in the effluent at different time from the coronary were detected. Myocardial infarction area was also detected. Results:There are no difference of HR, CF, CK, LDH and myocardial risk area before reperfusion. At 60min after reperfusion, all parameters were found different significantly in experimental groups compared with control group. At 120min after reperfusion, CF in LIPo has difference compared to other experimental groups. There is no difference of myocardial infarct area in groups.Conclusion:L-Carnitine(L-CN) postconditioning, preconditioning and synergistic effect of both have protective effects on myocardial I/R injury in isolated rat heart, and there is no difference among these three methods.
