[OBJECT]To evaluate the quality of Polygonatum odoratum (Mill.)Druce from three areas;To investigate the plant diseases and insect pests of Polygonatum odoratum (Mill.) Druce and to identify pathogens of the diseases, To screen out effective fungistats.;To provide scientific basis for the GAP and SOP of Polygonatum odoratum (Mill.) Druce.[METHODS]1.With field observation method to observe the growing period and botanical characteristics of the Polygonatum odoratum (Mill.) Druce from3places; With Character and Microscopic identification method of TCM identification method to identify the leave and root.2. According to2010Chinese Pharmacopoeia, to determine the extract, alcohol extract, water, and total ash content required under routine examination;to determine the content of polysaccharide of Polygonatum odoratum (Mill.) Druce by method for determination of polysaccharides.3.With field investigation to invest disease development in Hunan Xinshao Base of Polygonatum odoratum (Mill.) Druce; to literature review and consult experts to identify species of pathogens.4.Using the method of growth rate to test the inhibition rate of antibacterial herbs and some common pesticides on Polygonatum odoratum Druce pathogens of brown spot and root rot.5.Using field investigation to invest pests of Xinshao Polygonatum odoratum (Mill.) Druce in Hunan and to screen out and organize integrated control.[RESULTS]1. There were some difference among Polygonatum odoratum (Mill.) Druce from3places in biological characteristics. It showed that Polygonatum odoratum (Mill.) Druce from Hunan had highest plant height, most leave and without fruits. About growing period, Polygonatum odoratum (Mill.) Druce from Hunan had a longer growth time and its emergency, budding and flower stalk formation period were earlier than that from Zhejiang and Liaoning. About root character, Polygonatum odoratum (Mill.) Druce from Hunan had more branches and most weight root. At the microscopic feature, the three ones were similar and just showed little difference in the shape and area.2. In the routine examination of Polygonatum odoratum (Mill.) Druce from, the extract and alcohol extract content and relative water content from Hunan were highest with the data of75.2%,72.1%and13.5%, whereas the ash content were lowest. In the comparison of polysaccharides content, that plant in Tanxi town were higher than that planted in Hanpu town. The content of polysaccharides of Polygonatum odoratum (Mill.) Druce from Hunan, Zhejiang and Liaoning that planted in Tanxi town were9.98%、8.67%、7.96%.3. There were4kinds of plant diseases, they were root rot, brown spot, gray mold and purple spot. Brown spot and root disease were serious.The pathogens of them were Fusarium solani.; Alternaria alternata (Fr.) keissl.; Botiytis paeoniae Oud.; Macrophoma cruenta (Fr.) Ferr.4.13kinds of TCM. and3pesticides were used to inhibit the mycelial growth of pathogens of brown spot and root disease, the results showed that TCM of both Folium Artemisiae argyi and Radix sophorae showed strong toxicity effects on Alternaria altemata (Fr.) keissl., EC50were28.1830and35.1086; Phellodendris chinensis and Radix sophorae showed strong toxicity effect on Fusarium solani, EC50were24.1290and35.2195.80%Mancozeb showed strong inhibition rate above77%to the Alternaria alternata (Fr.) keissl. among the3pesticides, EC50were0.0015;70%Mildothane showed obvious inhibition rate above60%to the Fusarium solani, EC50were0.3571.5.The common pests were slugs, red spiders and grubs. Just cleaning, combing the farming technique and also spraying chemicals could bring a good effect to the control of pests.
