The car as an important vehicle of transport in modern people riding tool, industrial enterprises in the transport of goods, has occupied an importantposition in people’s daily life, but the noise pollution problems are seriousbothering people, urgent. There are many kinds of vehicle noises, engineexhaust noise is one of the most important noise, and install the exhaustmuffler in automobile is the most effective method to eliminate the automobileexhaust noise. The exhaust muffler of freight tools forklift used in industrialworkshop Is this article main research object. This article mainly is dividedinto three parts to research on the performance of forklift exhaust muffler wassimulatedFirstly, the software Virtual. Lab was used for numerical simulation onacoustic exhaust muffler, calculate the import and export of the transmissionloss, amount of noise elimination in the characterization by transmission loss.Through the numerical simulation of different simple muffler structure, factorsinfluencing the silencer acoustic properties of the structure are obtained. Takethe numerical simulation to a forklift exhaust muffler and improved thestructure of the muffler according to the front simulation results to satisfy theamount of noise elimination that we needed.Secondly, the aerodynamic properties is a evaluation index of the mufflerexcept acoustic performance, is directly related to the questions with theengine performance、matching and fuel economy etc, so how to improve theaerodynamic properties is an important subject of the muffler performancestudy. The CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics) analysis software FLUENTwas used to analogue simulate the muffler model with different structures, andthe factors influencing the aerodynamic performance of the muffler wereobtained. At the last, considering various factors influencing silencer acousticalperformance and aerodynamic performance, design a evaluation method for the effective evaluation of the muffler performance, provides a convenientplatform for the user to select or design muffler structure.
