According to investigations and studies, the application of wedge brake can enhance the military wheeled combat vehicle braking performance.The wedge brake working for the military heavy-duty axles of my company will be researched and analysised in this thesis. The main factors affecting the braking performance and the key technology will be mastered, which will improve my company’s capability of independent innovation and lay a solid theoretical foundation for design, manufacturing and expanding product series.In this thesis, the following studies are completed:First, the development and current situation of brake are described briefly. Then the comparing of the structure of the various brake and the advantages and disadvantages of self-increasing force wedge brake are analysised in this paper which point out that the self-increasing force wedge brake is suitable for my company actual using need.According to the structural characteristics of the self-force increasing wedge brake, the mathematical model of the performance factors that is the objective function with constraints are established. The optimal design and results simulation which the parameters selection based on are stated Using MATLAB.Using the finite element software Ansys to analysis the self-force increasing wedge brake that is established the three-dimensional model, the unit and the number of nodes of the model are strived to reduce and the3D model geometry is cleaned up and simplified to alleviate the computational workload with keeping actual structural characteristics and not affecting the calculation accuracy. The stress distribution, the corresponding deformation and the brake torque simulation of the key components of the self-force increasing wedge brake are presented with defining the appropriate contact boundary conditions, contact algorithms, each pair constraint conditions, the rated brake pressure and the specific load.The bench test data of self-force increasing wedge brake getting from the test in the State Administration of Quality Supervision and Inspection is compared to the theoretical results. Through the theoretical calculations, experimental verification and comparative analysis about the actual use, the self-force increasing wedge brake can meet the requirement of users.Finally, the future work about the self-force increasing wedge brake is conceived and planned.
