The Application Of Context Elements In Urban Planning Research

City as a special carrier of our history and culture, is the accumulation of historic fragments. The most important meaning of city existence lies on its function of human cultural inheritance and make it possible for the human being’s self-regeneration. City, also as a social organism, has its obvious regional features. Chinese historic cities, rooted on our traditional cultural soil, especially have its unique features against other cultures in the world. And many cities have different kinds of styles themselves. However, because of certain reasons, today’s urban features based on thousands of years’Chinese culture is dying away, the urban context gradually rupturing, the new constructions stereotyping. Under such circumstances, urban context as an internal connection between human, buildings, cities and social background, its inheritance becomes so important to the healthy development of cities.The thesis, whose core is urban context, is divided into two parts. The first part is the basic research, clarifying the reason why we should think much of urban context through analyzing all kinds of confusion facing urban context inheritance and its internal reasons, and then declare its strategic importance and the essential connotation of inheritance. It also analyses the development of Chinese urban context concept, through which we can see a main threads of it. The second part of the thesis is the strategy research, concentrating on the detail discussion about how to inherit the urban context on the technical levels, including the analysis of constitutional factors of urban context, how to evaluate these different factors, etc, and ulteriorly form the basic outline of context inheriting methods, and the practical guarantee mechanism. Finally the specific proof-test is put forward through substantial evidence concerning the above content.
