Periodic structure (PS) is a kind of array composed of periodically arranged identical resonance elements, which turned out to be a specific electromagnetic scatterer. PS exhibit total reflection in specific frequency bands while total transmission in other bands. Because of the filter properties they are widely used in many fields, such as bandpass radome design, electromagnetic compatible and antenna reflectors, et al. Based on the comprehensive analysis of numerical algorithm and simulation technology for PS, this paper provides the fast numerical analysis method needed for electromagnetic scattering property analysis of multilayer PS, and develops a simulation and design platform, which also contains unsimilar periodic structure analysis and optimization design. The main conclusions are as follows:Based on Integral Equation (IE) solved by the Method of Moments (MoM), this paper provides a fast algorithm for modeling planar PS. It combines successfully the advantage of two approaches that Shanks’ and Ewald’s transform, and proposes a new method for the acceleration convergence of multilayered periodic Green’s function (GF), especially the vector potential GF. The technique can model multilayered PS efficiently.Based on the programming language C/C++, coding algorithms is realized and give the corresponding calculation modules. According to the scattering analysis algorithm and optimizing design algorithm based on the genetic algorithm, this paper develops the infinite periodic structure module, the unsimilar periodic structure module and GA comprehensive design module, separately.A software platform is developed for the electromagnetic characteristics analysis and the comprehensive optimum design of planar periodic structure. The platform uses the B/S model based on the J2EE software architecture, and related graphical input parameters, structure design and results data post-processing through the browser and quickly analysis the PS’electromagnetic characteristics on server.
