Landscape Of Artistic Expression

At the turning point of the new developments and the renewal of modern and contemporary concept of Land Art, this paper explains the changes of the usage of Land Art in both China and the foreign art history. When the concept of Land Art emerged from a narrow sense of "landscape" to the aggregation of all the things can be perceived by the visual senses, include the objects on the earth, the explored universe and their interactive relationship with human. The developments of Land Art lead the artist’s attitude and the means of expression in Land Art changed profoundly.The author surveyed Chinese and World art history and extracted different forms and school of styles pertaining to Land Art. Through analysis of its applications, technical languages, content and ideas, usage and values etc., attempting to expound that Land Art as a mean of expression still possesses it vitality in today’s and future’s art development.At the end of this paper, the author explains his understanding and application of Land Art. Through the depiction of Land Art, reflecting a sense of crisis, this crisis involves the rapid city developments in China, creating a schism in the history of humanity and a crisis in environment and ecology.
