The reform of heating metering in our country has already begun, the charge ofheating pipeline must be splitting of households by measure, it had been conducted atselected points in many places of our country. So far, the scheme of splitting theexpenses into two parts has been applied mostly, namely splitting heating fee into basicheating fees and metric heating fees. The former is receiving according to users; on theother hand, the latter is based on the consumer’s actual wastage. For the sake ofmeasuring the consumer’s actual wastage, there needs to be installed detectinginstruments which are calorimeters. Taking into account of climate、population and soon, the calorimeter has potential and enormous market.At present the measuring method of heat quantity has many ways, so are thespecies and models of the calorimeter, and that this task is mainly focus on the measureof small-bore flow. By relative analysis, we choose ultrasonic method to contrive, usethe time difference theory to survey, making the calorimeter more accurately anddurable. After looking up related technical literature, we decide to use time-digitconversion wafer TDC-GP21which is pushing out up-to-date by ACAM Company. It isbeing used to detect flow rate and temperature, it lead to the measure of hardware circuitis more accurate, the power dissipation is lower, the design is more simple. Afterconsulting the requirement of design, we choose the microprocessor MSP430F449asour master chip which is manufactured by TI Corporation. It is high-performance andlow power consumption. In the software design, we adopt the C language to writeprogram which’s efficiency of implementation is higher. The program is designed bymodularization, so that its commonality is much fine. We have done a lot of work in thedesign of this task, including the reduce of the meter’s power consumption、the raise ofthe instrument’s precision、the promotion of the apparatus’s stability.Through the examination of the system, the performance indexes of theultrasonic calorimeter we design meet the requirements basically, the veracity andstability are much better, the power dissipation is lower. After the improvement andupgrade, we do believe that the calorimeter will have much utilitarian value and extensive prospect of the market.
