Reinforcement in Small Reservoirs have started since2011.This paper is the research on hydraulic characteristics of water discharge and energy dissipation of spillway project in reinforcement engineering. the Standard k-ε equation turbulence model was used to simulate the three-dimensional turbulence flow field of main spillway in the Huifengjian mountain reservoir. The volume of fluid method (VOF) was introduced into the iteration of calculation, to solve the curved free water surface, and segregated solver was used with the PISO pressure-velocity coupling scheme. The result was contrast with hydraulic model test results and the optimization of the spillway of the energy dissipation was chose. The main content and the achievements are:(1) Through simulating the whole spillway waters, the curvilinear free surface, the magnitude and distribution of the velocity, the pressure on the spillway surface and so on were obtained. The calculation results were in good agreement with the result of classical hydraulics, which shows that the simulation calculation using the standard k-s turbulence model and VOF model for flow in the culvert is feasible. The discrete calculation area for different calculation area, using different density degree of mesh size, not only can accurately simulate water flow movement, but also try to control grid number and reduce computation time.(2) Weir water surface pressure is larger than zero, and no negative pressure generated, because the water longitudinal shrinkage is incomplete when flowing over the weir.(3)From the comparison of the simulation results of2-dimension and3-dimension conclusion could be made that (1)2-d model is simple and not complete without the influence of guide wall and the slope.(2)3-d model accord with popular opinion and the fact, the calculated result is more accurate. But the construction of3-d model is complicate and a large number of grids are produced and calculation consumes great time.(4)...
