With the formation of the national power grid, the dynamic monitoring of the great regional power grid becomes the problem that must be considered. The widely installation of the GPS-PMU achieves the dynamic measurement of the great regional power grid. The identification of the synchronous generator parameters by using PMU data not only expands the scope of application of the PMU measurement data, but also obtains accurate parameters for the security monitoring and rational management of the generator units. Currently, although there are many inherent advantages of the identification using PMU data, there are also many aspects need to be researched for the best identification scheme, on which corresponding studies are carried out and a more reasonable identification scheme is determined in the paper.According to the parameters identification process, the selection of the motor model, optimization algorithms and solution algorithm selection are introduced, the PMU data are deal with for identification.Certain improvements are made to traditional identification methods, steady-state parameters and transient parameters of the motor are differential considered. The steady-state parameters are calculated by the steady-state data, furthermore, by the statistics of d-axis synchronous reactance, a rule that the synchronous reactance values obey the normal distribution law when the motor is steadily operated is found. The using methods of the steady-state parameters obtained by calculated are discussed. Two factors, model selection and the length of time, which are approach for the identification of transient parameters, are studied. The physical constraints between the motor parameters are considered in the identification, the rationality of setting the search range is also analyzed.The synchronous generator simulation models are established, the parameters of motor are identified by using the simulated data. This method overcomes the merits of the lack of direct judgments to the identification results that are obtained by PMU data. The correctness and stability of the identification scheme are verified at the same time.The ideal identification results obtained by using the data of different motors in different power plants prove the rationality of the identification program.
