Modern power operation systems are becoming complex, flexible protection configuration. A large number of scholars use the current artificial intelligence technology to power system fault diagnosis research, have achieved good results, but there are still many areas for improvement.This paper first describes the network fault diagnosis research situation, the distinction between the advantages and disadvantages of various diagnostic methods; detailed analysis of faults in the source and characteristics of information sources on the basis of the solution proposed in this project-using hierarchical diagnosis structure; In introducing the knowledge Petri net theory, based on the analysis of Petri net theory in power system fault diagnosis feasibility of the application was proposed based on Petri net theory of regional power grid fault diagnosis method.
