Recycling waste rubber is one of the important ways to realize the circular utilization of waste rubber especially discarded tires. However, the rubber powder is already crosslinked that makes the properties of rubber powder products cann’t compara with traditional rubber products. Therefore, it is necessary to activate the rubber powder for improving the rubber products’ properties. The mechanical force chemical modify method is particular concerned, because the method is simple, no secondary pollution and it can industrialize. The activated state and mechanisation of radical in the process of modification is not fully acquainted now. The process is short of conturl which limited the development of technological process and process and then influenced the industrial application of rubber powder.In order to solve this problem, this paper centred on the change of radical in the process of modifying the rubber powder with mechanical force chemical method. This paper studied the basic components of rubber powder and the properties of vulcanizates and set the mothed which used Electron paramagnetic resonance technique to research the activated state of radical (radical content, life of radical). This paper discussed the the relationship of technological conditions of, mechanical force chemical modification, change of radical and blended vulcanizates and set up the mechanisation of mechanical force chemical modification. There set up the technology of regulating the properties of powder blended vulcanizates in the basic of the change of radical. The main conclusions are as follows:1. Infrared spectroscopy and Thermal analysis show that the rubber powder is mainly composed of a complex system composed of natural rubber, styrene-butadiene rubber, carbon black and so on. Rubber powder added to rubber matrix after assistant, the properties of blended vulcanizates were better. The size of rubber powder had a certain impact on the properties of rubber powder and natural rubber blends. The smaller the rubber powder was, the better the properties was, the more the rubber powder was, the bad the vulcanizates was.2. Based on Electron paramagnetic resonance technology and spin trapping reagent2,4,6-trimethyl nitrosobenzene, this paper had realized the reliable determination of content and life of free radical in the process of modifying the rubber powder. The results are as follows:The join of spin trapping reagent enhanced the stability of radical that in the process of mechanical force chenmical modify. After the spin trapping reagent was added, the concerntation of radical was obviously increased. The concerntation of radical had obviously drop along with the time extended. The mixed times increased to100times, the concerntation of radical appeared the maximum value. Afterwards, when increased the mixed times, its density had slightly dropped. The different particle size of rubber powder also affected the change of radical obviously.40the concentration of radical of40mesh of rubber powder was higher than80mesh of rubber powder, but the variation trend were similar.3. The rubber powder was modified by mechanical force chemical method. It realized the properties of rubber powder which changed to schistose. Used DM, sulfur and coumarone can obtain effective modified rubber powder. The best formula is:Rubber powder100phr, DM2.5phr, sulfur0.5phr, coumarone4.0phr. The properties of the modified rubber powder blended with natural rubber, was obviously better than unmodified rubber powder blended withnatural rubber, especially the tearing property. When the content of the modified rubber powder in nature rubber was80phr, the properties of vulcanizates were correspond to the vulcanizates which added40phr unmodified rubber powder.4. This paper used mechanical plasticizing technology to modified rubber powder. The DM formula was better than antioxidant formula. The properties of rubber powder can further increased when rubber was rubbed after plastifying. We compared mechanical force chemical modification to plastifying modification, the tensile strength of vulcanizates had increased17.6%. It wsa outdistanced plasticizing modification which increased3.23%. We established the method that rubber powder was first plastifying modified and then mechanical force chemical modified.
