Thermoplastic elastomer (SEPS) and thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) are segmented copolymers which have a structure called micro phase separation, and this structure makes polymers have many excellent properties such as good mechanical strength、flexibility. creep resistance、oil resistance and good behavior in the low temperature and so on. They can be applied in many areas and now are studied in great demand.In this paper, the author uses SEPS-g-MAH as the major ingredient; prepare the blends via melting blend in case to get one kind of polymer alloy which has easy-processing and excellent mechanical property. The mechanical property、thermal behavior.hydrolysis-aging resistance、and the phase morphology are studied when SEPS-g-MAH is added into polyester TPU and polyether TPUWe combine the UV additive with anti-oxygen additive as one package. The effect to the heat-resistance and UV resistance is studied when the packages are added into the TPU/SEPS compounds by melting blend.The result as follows:The tensile strength for polyether TPU/SEPS compounds increased and then reduced along with the contents of SEPS. It reached maximum when the contents of SEPS is15wt%, and hydrolysis-aging resistance became the best.The tensile strength for polyester TPU/SEPS compounds has the same performance as that of polyether TPU/SEPS compounds along with the contents of SEPS. It reached maximum when the contents of SEPS is20wt%and hydrolysis-aging resistance became the best.The FTIR analysis revealed that the characteristic groups of the SEPS-g-MAH have grafted on the polyester TPU backbone chain, separately.The DSC analysis showed there exist compatibility between SEPS-g-MAH and polyester TPU for some extents.The TGA analysis showed SEPS-g-MAH addition made the heat resistance for polyester TPU worse for some extent.For polyester TPU/SEPS and polyether TPU/SEPS, the addition of CYANOX-S4and CYASORB THT4611can improve the UV stability and heat resistance of these two compounds.SEM graphs showed that blends of SEPS/Polyester TPU and SEPS/Polyether TPU appeared good.
