"Redundancy" is a terminology of information theory at first, and then it is introduced tothe field of linguistic studies. Domestic and foreign scholars have achieved a lot in the relatedfields. This paper tries to introduce the concept of "redundancy" by studying the learning ofChinese as a foreign language dictionary. We chose Part J, T, O entry as the research object inthe Commercial Press Learner’s Dictionary of Contemporary Chinese, the first learningdictionary of Chinese as a foreign language in the domestic, study the redundant informationcontained in these entries, and propose my own proposals to the redundant information tryingto enrich the dictionary of Chinese as a foreign language learning.The paper is divided into five chapters, and the second, third, and four chapters are themain parts.The first chapter is introduction, including research overview, purpose and significance ofresearch methods.The second chapter studies the redundant information in the defining language of thelearning of Chinese as a foreign language dictionary. At first, this chapter redefines theredundant information on the basis of the definitions of the redundant information made bythe seniors. Secondly analyzing the cause of the redundant information coming into being,and studying the overall situation and specific type of the redundant information in thedefining language. Finally, making a conclusion from three aspects----active redundantinformation, negative redundant information and defective redundancy information.The third chapter analyzing the redundant information in the illustrations of the learning ofChinese as a foreign language dictionary. Firstly, this chapter conducts simple analysis to thesources and types of the illustrations corpus, make a concrete analysis the types of redundantinformation in the illustration from three aspects---active redundant information, negativeredundant information and defective redundant information.The fourth chapter investigates the redundant information in the equipped examples of thelearning of Chinese as a foreign language dictionary. This chapter firstly introduces the basicsituation of examples, followed by the specific analysis of the redundant informationcontained in its structure from two aspects, the active redundant information and negativeredundant information. At last, we propose our own proposals in negative redundant information and defective redundant information.The fifth chapter mainly makes a summary about research productions. At the same time,this paper looks into the future of the follow-up study.
