The "^+VP" structure refers to the "-" and predicate composition structures. This paper delves into the aspectualcharacteristics of the "-"+VP" structure in modern Chinese on the synchronic level, and the "-+VP" structural changes from the end of the Qing Dynasty. On the basis ofthe previous studies, this paper has a comprehensive analysis ofthe predicate selection rules, semantic self-sufficiency, aspectual status and its internal links and differences ofthe "一+VP" structure. The paper collects detailed statistical data ofthe "-+VP" structure from seven Beijing dialect textssince the Qing Dynasty. The conclusions are as follows:(1) As a whole, thebare verbs, adjectives, V-O structure, V-C structure, and adverbial modifiers, which can be put into the VP position of the "-+VP" structure, are subject to different conditions. Rhythm and other factors may also restrict their access to the VP position.(2) In the modern Chinese "-+VP" structure, the "-" may be an ancient usage, a perfective usage, or a perfect usage; When "-+VP" appears at the end of a sentence, the meaning may be self-sufficient or not. The relationship among semantic self-sufficiency,outcome and aspectual status of the "-+VP" is very complex. They do not have a one to one relationship.(3) We have found that the frequency of perfective usage experiences fluctuations after analyzing the seven Beijing dialect textssince the Qing Dynasty, and the overall usesare still small; the usage of quasi-perfect and perfectfluctuates greatly, and shows significant negative correlation in certain texts. We believe that the style, content and colloquial language ofthe texts will have an impact on the use of the"-+VP"structure.
